| 2.祈使句十and/or十含有一般将来时的陈述句 ▲在这一句型中，连词and连接了两个并列句，前面是祈使句， 后面是一个含一般将来时的陈述句。从整体意思上我们可看 出祈使句表示的是一种条件或假设，陈述句表示的是一个结 果。祈使句在作用上相当于if从句，大多表示建议，提出要 求或进行评说等。因此，这个句型一般可转换成if条件或假 设状语从句十主句，但祈使句所表示的意思比if从句所表示 的更为紧迫。例如： ①Go through the gate and you’ll find theen trance to Bear Coun－ tr yon the other side. ＝If you go through the gate，you’ll… 穿过大门，你就会发现另一侧通向熊国去的入口。（建议） ②Work hard and you’ll do we llin your lessonS. ＝If you work hard，you’ll do… 努力学习，你就会成绩好。（建议） ③Think carefully and you will find the answer. ＝If you think carefully，you will find the answer. 仔细考虑一下，你就会找到答案。（建议） ④Tell us what to do and we’ll go on with it. ＝If you tell us what to do，we’ll go on with it. 你如告诉我们该怎么做，我们就会干下去。 ⑤Fail to pay and they’ll cut off the electricity. ＝If you fail to pay，they’ll cut off the electricity. 你如果不付款，他们就要断电。（评说） ▲这种句型还可以用连词or，或otherwise连接，相当于ifnot， 意思是“否则的话”，从反面来预测一个结果。祈使句仍表示 建议，有时也可表示说话人的威胁。如： ⑥Take a taxi，or/other wise you’ll miss thet rain. ＝If you don’t take a taxi，you will miss the train. 叫出租车，要不然，你就会赶不上火车。（建议） ⑦Stop eating sweets，or/other wise you won’t get any dinner. ＝If you don’t stop eating sweets，you won’t get any dinner. 你如不停止吃糖，你就不要吃饭。（威胁） ⑧Be there on time，or/other wise you’ll create a bad impression. ＝If you aren’t there on time，you’ll create a badi mpression. 如果你不准时到的话，你就会给人留下一个坏印象。（建议） 【注】用or或otherwise连接的这一句型也可以改成由and连 接的这一句型，因此，在掌握这一句型时，要注意许多时 候可用多种方法表达同一个意思。如： ⑨Study hard and you’ll pass the exam. ＝Study hard，or/other wise you won’t pass the exam. ＝If you study hard，you will paSS the exaa. ＝If you don’t study hard，you won’t pass the exam. 努力学习，要不然你考试不会及格。 【注】在表示威胁的句子里，祈使句十or或otherwise和祈使句 十and有时表示的意思很不一样。如： ⑩Drop that gun，or/other wiseI’ll shoot you. 放下枪，不然我就打死你。 ⑾Drop that paper andI’l1 fire you. 你如丢了那个文件，我就开除你。 free一词的用法 free一般用作形容词，可表示多种意思。 ▲free作“免费的”解，意为withoutpayment。如： ①Are these horse－drawn street cars free？ 这些马车是免费的吗？ ②Children in this villageget（或have，enjoy）freeeducation and medicalCare. 这村的孩子享受免费教育和公费医疗。 ③I’ve got three free tickets.I’ll let you have one. 我搞到三张免费的票，将给你一张。 ▲free可指时间上“空闲的”，＝notbusy，也可指某一场所“空 闲着”，＝notbeingused。如： ④She is usually free in the afternoon. ＝Her afternoo sare usually free. 她下午通常闲着。 ⑤That was afree evening for him. 对他来说那是个空闲的晚上。 ⑥The bath room is free now. 浴室现在没人在用。 |
