| Introduction The course Why is the Look Ahead course special? The Longman Look Ahead classroom materials have been produced as a result of a unique collaboration between BBC English, the British Council, the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES)and Longman ELT, with the co-operation of the Council of Europe. SYLLABUS The core syllabus for the Look Ahead corpus is based on the Council of Europes revised and extended Waystage and Threshold specifications (Council of Europe Press, 1991),the most comprehensive statement of language learning objectives yet available for the 1990s and the new millennium. ENGLISH LANGUAGE EXAMINATIONS New examinations at Waystage level (the Key English Test-KET)and Threshold level (the revised Preliminary English-PET)have been devised by UCLES based on these latest specifications. |
